Santorini, Greece – Honeymoon Destination Wedding Photographers – Part 2

Back to Santorini, the perfect vacation, wedding and honeymoon destination.

After walking around the cutest convoluted little alleys and paths near our hotel we found a superb typical Greek hotel just minutes walk away from Villa Popi (still on the east side – not crater side).  We waited a few days until there was vacancy, then scored our amazing “Cave” room for 2  nights at 50 Euros/night, including breakfast.  As you will see this room was so quaint and typically Greek!  with the little hotel pool right in front of our door, it seemed like our own private pool.  My favorite part was the purple and white bougainvillea draping the whole front entrance to our room.

The next day we took the amazing trip to the crater, Nea Kameni and hiked around as hot steam drifted out of holes around us and the sulfur smell whiffed by our noses.  We also jumped off the ship and swam in the muddy hotspring beside next to the crater island, and I even saw a small octopus swim right by me.  With the salt spray in our faces we headed back in the  wooden masted ship to the little port.   And, yes girls, I put that hottie sailor in there for you! LOL!

All the locals will say to get the best spot for the sunset you must go to the town of Oia (pronounced Eee-ya)  where all the romance happens! 🙂  It is at the north tip of the island.  Everyone sits around, cuddles, kisses as the sun sets. Just remember to take your time in leaving, as there is a huge traffic jam of people leaving after the sun sets beyond the ocean.

On our last day in Santorini we got a wonderful spot at a restaurant overlooking the crater at sunset.  They treated us to  some Uzzo on the house (wow felt like I was breathing fire) and had the most delicious Greek salad on earth.  Perfectly romantic and stunning.

Finally you must do the donkey ride up the hill.  don’t ask. just do it!  Memories for a lifetime!
