Celestial Photography – Hanafoto

I am still amazed with some of these pictures. It was a cool clear night in December – I used a tri-pod, Canon 50D (to get the 1.5x zoom) and 70-200mm f2.8 IS lens. I did manual focusing on all of the images. I captures the glory of Venus and Jupiter – you can see the brightness of Venus and the stripes/ rings of Jupiter – but sorry no “eye” on the Jupiter but you can see the Moons orbiting Jupiter. I have used different camera settings to achieve the two different looks of Jupiter – one to see the planet and the colors and another to see the moons orbiting it!
