Wow! Only 18 days left until Maros and I head over to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for an amazing destination wedding! We can hardly wait! We love to travel and enjoy and explore new places! And to join an extraordinary couple in a stunning tropical location to celebrate their marriage union is unspeakably amazing. We are so fortunate and blessed!
For those of you thinking about having your wedding in some amazing tropical location, here are a few tips on how to plan your destination wedding!
5 Destination Wedding Tips!
1. Pick a location and resort that suites your needs. So many choices, from white or black sandy beaches to the stunning cliffs and white houses of Santorini. There are all-inclusive resorts, Eco-freiendly resorts, even a Cinderella castle! Note: Some resorts do not allow you to bring in outside photographers. Watch out, some resort photographers may have very little experience, and cheap camera gear. We have seen and heard of gorgeous couples in stunning locations that had “professional” photos from the resort photographer (often included in the wedding package) that came out worse than the photos their friends took. Do your research. It may be worth it to bring in a professional photographer to your destination!
2. Look into the legal requirements for marriage in your destination. Some countries require specific details regarding you and your fiance. Certain length of time in the country or even blood tests may be required.
3. Give yourself lots of time. Plan ahead, send out save the date cards, make sure you and your guest check your passport expiration dates.
4. Use a Professional Destination Wedding Planner/Travel Agent. These amazing planners and agents know all the ins and outs of destination weddings. They can take care of all of the details that lead up to your big day. They know what you will need and will have you prepared. They can help you save with group rates, and special perks. Here are a few we recommend! Posh Producitons, Pose Travel, Luxurious Escapes
5. Check out the climate and weather. Watch out for hurricane season and re-think location or date if it falls during these times. Also whale watching (e.g. Puerto Vallarta) or baby turtles hatching (e.g.Los Cabos), or the amazing bioluminescent plankton (Have you seen it in the movie: Life of Pi?) would be amazing and make it the trip of a lifetime.
We still are looking for a couple to make our dream come true and shoot a destination wedding in Santorini, Greece! Look it up.. WOW. Great honeymoon destination too!
Have an amazing April!!
